School of Economics and Management

Xi’an University of Technology School of Economics and Management, founded in 1919 (formerly the Beiping Municipal Commercial Continuing School), is one of the earliest engineering universities in China to set up management disciplines.

The school offers a comprehensive undergraduate curriculum with majors including Business Administration, Accounting, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Finance, Cross-border E-commerce, Information Management and Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Big Data Management and Applications, and Economics. Among them, Business Administration is designated a national level specialty program, and Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, and Accounting have been selected as national first-class majors for bachelor’s degree.

In terms of faculty and talent training, the school has over 180 members, with more than 150 full-time teachers, including 18 doctoral advisors, 24 professors, 38 associate professors, and 135 teachers holding doctoral degrees. Currently, over 3,800 students have enrolled (including more than 2,100 doctoral and master’s students); a total of more than 12,000 undergraduate students and 8,000 graduate students have been cultivated so far.

In terms of discipline development, the school hosts 2 doctoral degree programs in in Management Science and Engineering and Business Administration (first‑level discipline), a master’s degree program in Applied Economics (first‑level discipline), and a postdoctoral research station in Management Science and Engineering. Both Management Science and Engineering and Business Administration are key (predominant) disciplines in Shaanxi Province, and received ratings of B+ (top 20%) and B- (top 40%), respectively in the fourth round of discipline evaluations of the Ministry of Education.

The school is authorized to confer professional degrees such as MBA, EMBA, Accounting, Finance, and Engineering Management, and is one of the authorized institutions for MBA (third batch) and EMBA (second batch). Research platform includes the Shaanxi University Key Research Base of Philosophy and Social Sciences — “the Urban Economy and Management Research Center” and “the Shaanxi Urban Strategy Institute (directed by Former Governor Cheng Andong)”; and has also established an academic studio for Academician Yang Shanlin in 2018.

The school has achieved abundant research achievements. Since 2020, it has undertaken 53 national projects (including 22 natural science projects, 28 social science projects, 2 key social science projects, and 1 program of Ministry of Science and Technology) and more than 200 provincial and ministerial projects. It has secured average annual research funding of over RMB 10 million, has received more than 60 research awards, published over 60 textbooks and monographs, and published more than 800 academic papers (over 400 articles indexed by SSCI/SCI/EI).
