Undergraduate

The University currently has more than 18,000 full-time undergraduate students and recruits students from all 31 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across China. It offers 68 undergraduate majors, among which 32 have been selected as National First-Class Undergraduate Major Development Programs, six as Shaanxi Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Major Development Programs, and ten as National Characteristic Major Development Programs. In addition, 16 majors have passed Engineering Education Accreditation (Evaluation), 16 are recognized as Shaanxi Provincial Characteristic Majors, and eight are designated as Shaanxi Provincial Brand Majors. The University has established 21 experimental teaching centers, including three National Demonstration Centers for Experimental Teaching, 18 Provincial Demonstration Centers for Experimental Teaching, and three Provincial Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Centers.


The University adheres to the fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education and continues to deepen educational and teaching reforms, constantly improving its talent cultivation model. In recent years, the University has won four National Teaching Achievement Awards and 102 Shaanxi Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards, undertaken 95 provincial-level educational reform projects, and received one Second Prize of the First National Excellent Textbook Award and 34 Excellent Textbook Awards for Shaanxi Higher Education Institutions. The University has five National Quality Courses, three National Quality Resource-Sharing Courses, and 72 Provincial Quality Courses. It has also established two National Model Projects for Curriculum-Based Ideological and Political Education and 11 Provincial Model Projects and Research Centers in this field.


The University currently offers 29 National First-Class Undergraduate Courses, including five National First-Class Virtual Simulation Experimental Courses, and 43 Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Courses. It has established one National Virtual Teaching and Research Section and three Provincial Virtual Teaching and Research Sections, along with 11 Provincial Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Projects and six Provincial First-Class Virtual Simulation Experimental Courses. The University has five National Teaching Teams. One faculty member won the Second Prize in the First National Teaching Innovation Competition for College Teachers, and another won the First Prize in the Second National Teaching Innovation Competition for College Teachers. One faculty member was honored as a Model Educator in Shaanxi Province. The University has nine textbook projects approved under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s 14th Five-Year Plan and one textbook research base.


The quality of talent cultivation at the University has been widely recognized. It serves as a reserve officer selection and training base for the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy, has been rated as an “Excellent University” in the Ministry of Education’s Undergraduate Teaching Evaluation, and is among the first universities selected to implement the “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program.” In 2013, the University became one of the first pilot universities nationwide to pass the Ministry of Education’s Undergraduate Teaching Review and Evaluation.


The University attaches great importance to innovation and entrepreneurship education and has steadily promoted comprehensive reform in this area, significantly enhancing its talent cultivation capacity. It has been recognized as a National Demonstration University for Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform, a first batch National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Practice Base, a National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Education Base, and an implementing university for the Ministry of Education’s National Undergraduate Innovation Experiment Program. It is also a Shaanxi Provincial Demonstration University for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform, with two pilot colleges for innovation and entrepreneurship education reform. The University has established a Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Center. Its affiliated “XAUT Innovation Hub” is recognized as a National Technology Business Incubator, a Shaanxi Provincial Maker Space, and a Xi’an Municipal Maker Space. In recent years, XAUT students have achieved outstanding results in competitions such as the China International “Internet+” College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the National College Students Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition.


The initial employment rate of undergraduate graduates ranks among the top universities in Shaanxi Province. The University has been honored by the Ministry of Education as a “National Advanced Collective for Graduate Employment” and a “National Model University for Graduate Employment.”
