Alumni affairs at Xi'an University of Technology (XUT) were initiated in 1988, with its predecessor being the General Alumni Association of Shaanxi Institute of Machinery. After more than 30 years of development and construction, the Alumni Affairs Office was set up to support the XUT Alumni General Association, and was later renamed the Office of Domestic Cooperation and Alumni Affairs to administer university-wide alumni work. At present, a working pattern of overall coordination by the general association, collaboration among branch chapters, and participation of the entire university community has been fully formed.
For many years, the university has been committed to uniting alumni strength and pursuing win-win development. It has established a widely covered, multi-service and efficiently coordinated alumni work system, which serves as a robust bond linking the alma mater with nearly 300,000 alumni around the world. A total of 83 alumni organizations have been gradually established across three categories: regional, industrial and school-based chapters, realizing full coverage of major provinces and cities in China, key industries and priority overseas regions. This enables every XUTer to gain a strong sense of belonging and strengthen collective cohesion.
Leveraging its sound organizational framework, XUT’s alumni work centers on four core dimensions: networking & fellowship, development services, collaborative progress and cultural inheritance. The university has built a digital service matrix of "two websites, one journal and one platform", and holds regular events including Alumni Homecoming Day, class reunions, alumni forums and university-enterprise matchmaking activities. These efforts provide all-round support for alumni’s growth and success in employment, entrepreneurship, resource sharing and mutual communication. Meanwhile, they rally alumni strength to boost the university’s Double First-Class Initiative, disciplinary advancement, talent cultivation and scientific & technological innovation.
From Shaanxi Institute of Machinery to Xi'an University of Technology, and from preliminary networking to two-way empowerment in the new era, more than three decades of alumni work have documented the diligent strides of XUT alumni in all sectors, and witnessed the continuous growth and prosperity of the alma mater.
In the future, the university will further enrich the essence of alumni affairs, refine the alumni organizational system, upgrade the digital service platform and expand channels for cooperation and development. It will strive to forge a community of honor, development and shared future between alumni and their alma mater. Together with all alumni, XUT will redouble its efforts to build itself into a high-level research university with distinctive features and national first-class status, and make greater contributions to national prosperity and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
