Profile

The School of Computer Science and Engineering (also named the School of Cyberspace Security) traces its origins to the 1970s; the Department of Computer Science was established in 1994, the school was formally founded in July 2002; in November 2025, it added the title of / was also designated as.


The school comprises five departments and offers five undergraduate programs / bachelor’s programs: Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Cyberspace Security, Internet of Things Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence. It offers a doctoral degree program in Computer Science and Technology (first‑level discipline), a doctoral degree program in Electronic Information, and a master’s degree program in Cyberspace Security (first‑level discipline), forming a complete “bachelor - master - doctoral” training system.


150 faculty and staff members, including 63 professors and associate professors, 21 doctoral advisors, and 49 supervisors, 1 distinguished academician, 2 national‑level talents, and more than ten provincial‑level talents. There are over 1,500 undergraduate students and more than 600 graduate students and international students enrolled.


The school has offered 3 national‑level first‑class courses and more than ten provincial‑level courses, established 1 provincial experimental teaching demonstration center, received over 20 teaching achievement awards, and won more than 200 national awards and more than 500 provincial awards in competitions such as ACM/ICPC and the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition.


In terms of research, the school has hosted 8 provincial and municipal key platforms, including the Shaanxi Key Laboratory of Network Computing and Security Technology and the Xi’an Key Laboratory of Rail Transit Big Data and Intelligent Application Technology, has undertaken more than 90 national programs (including National Natural Science Foundation Program) and more than 30 provincial programs, with scientific research funds exceeding RMB 100 million; it has won more than 10 provincial‑level or higher science and technology awards, granted over 200 patents for invention, published more than 500 high‑quality papers, and published over 20 monographs and textbooks.


The school has conducted full‑spectrum cooperative education program with JCU of Australia, implemented a “3+1+1” joint training program with the University of Missouri–Kansas City of USA, and maintained stable partnerships with universities in multiple countries. Since 2018, it has enrolled more than 50 international students.


The employment rate of graduates exceeds 90%; graduates are highly sought after by well-known IT companies, and many students further studies at prestigious universities at home and abroad.


The school upholds the motto “Pragmatism, Innovation, Faithfulness, and Perfection” and is committed to high‑quality development and the construction of a “Double First-Class Initiative”.

Research Achievements

1) Remote‑sensing image big data processing: large-scale remote‑sensing data analysis software. By applying data preprocessing and high‑resolution remote‑sensing image surface coverage classification techniques, it enables rapid identification and classification of surface features, providing reliable technical support for updating foundational geographic data.


2) Behavior recognition: Intelligent systems for monitoring bridge deformation at sites and for monitoring concrete vibration at sites. Efficient behavior‑recognition algorithms based on local‑to‑global spatial-temporal aggregation are used for real‑time intelligent monitoring of quality and safety at sites of China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp., Ltd. (CCEED) and filling an industry gap; these systems have been applied in projects such as the Zheshang Bank Xianyang Branch and Xi’an Metro Line 8, and are being promoted and applied across five northwestern provinces.
