The College of Marxism, Xi'an University of Technology is one of Shaanxi Province’s first designated key schools for Marxist studies. The college comprises teaching and research offices for Introduction to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Basic Principles of Marxism, Contemporary Chinese Marxism, Outline of Modern and Contemporary Chinese History, Moral Education, and Current Affairs and Policy, 5 provincial research bases (centers) and 1 provincial experimental zone for innovative talent‑training models.

It has been honored with titles such as “Shaanxi Model Team for Teacher Ethics,” “Women’s Civilized Post,” and “Advanced Grassroots Party Organization of the Shaanxi Provincial Faculty Committee”. The college has 1 recipient of the National Outstanding Teacher award, 1 leading talent in philosophy and social sciences in Shaanxi Province, 1 participant in the Ministry of Education’s Selective Support Program, 3 individuals nominated for the Annual Influence Awards for Ideological and Political Theory Courses in National Universities, 1 Grand Prize, 2 First Prizes, and 3 Second Prizes in the Teaching Demonstration Competition for Ideological and Political Theory Courses in National Universities, 24 provincial model teachers and skilled instructors in ideological and political course teaching in Shaanxi Province, 1 Shaanxi Province Model Teacher for Teaching and Educating, 1 Shaanxi Province Women’s Achievement Model, 1 Shaanxi Province Excellent Teacher of Ideological and Political Theory Courses, 1 recipient of the Young Talent Support Program in Humanities and Social Sciences in Shaanxi Universities, 1 participant in the Shaanxi Universities Young Distinguished Talent Support Program, 2 provincial‑level teaching teams, and 3 recipients of the Sanqin Talent Allowance.

The college was authorized to confer the master’s degrees in Marxist Theory and Ideological and Political Education in 2001; it was authorized to confer the doctoral degree program in Marxist Theory (first‑level discipline) and Ideological and Political Education (second‑level discipline) in 2006; it was authorized to confer the doctoral degree program in Marxist Theory (first‑level discipline) in 2018; it was authorized to establish a post‑doctoral research station in the discipline of Marxist Theory in 2023. The Marxist Theory discipline is currently recognized as a provincial advantage discipline and as a distinctive discipline in philosophy and social sciences in Shaanxi universities.

In recent years, the college has been approved for 31 projects under the National Social Science Fund of China (including major special projects, key projects, and annual projects), and has received more than 120 provincial and ministerial research projects, and has published over 40 monographs with national publishers such as People’s Publishing House, China Social Sciences Press, and Science Press, and also has published more than 800 papers. It has received 16 first‑prize and second‑prize awards for Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences in Shaanxi Province, more than 30 other Outstanding Achievements awards in philosophy and social sciences at the provincial and Xi’an municipal levels, and over 90 department‑ and bureau‑level awards.

The college currently has 2 of the first‑batch national first‑class undergraduate courses, 3 provincial‑level offline first‑class undergraduate courses, 3 provincial‑level high‑quality online courses on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era designated under the “Three Entries” initiative, and 1 course developed as an open online course that has been launched on Zhihuishu.com. The teaching reform for ideological and political theory courses has achieved remarkable results: The college’s practical education have won first‑ and second‑prize awards in the Shaanxi Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards, and have been publicized by multiple media outlets — including the Ministry of Education website, China Education Television, Guangming Daily, and Xinhuanet — attracting widespread attention from all sectors of society.
