Profile

It is a formally approved institution authorized by the former Ministry of Machine-Building Industry to offer adult higher education, making it one of the earliest institutions in China to provide continuing education for adults. Subsequently, in 1980, the school resumed enrollment for evening university programs. In 1981, it began offering advanced training programs for in-service personnel. In 1986, it launched distance learning programs. In 1998, the former Ministry of Machine-Building and Electronics Industry approved the establishment of the Adult Education College. In 2002, it was renamed the School of Continuing Education.

The university’s degree continuing education includes two levels: the High School Graduates to Bachelor’s Degree Program and the Associate Degree Graduates to Bachelor’s Degree Program. It offers a total of 46 majors, with distinctive strengths in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, water resources and hydropower engineering, accounting and finance, management, and printing engineering.

To meet the continuing education needs of in-service staff, the university has actively promoted reform of the blended teaching model that combines online learning and face-to-face instruction, focusing on updating knowledge and improving skills. In line with labor market demands, it has established diversified and multi-level training mechanisms and models. On the basis of degree education, and according to regional development strategies and industry demands, it has actively conducted non-degree education in fields such as Party and government administration, water resources and hydropower, equipment manufacturing, and printing and packaging, including leadership education and training, talent development, new occupation training, and vocational skills training. In addition, since March 2025, the school has begun enrolling applicants seeking master's degrees through equivalent academic qualifications and has launched the following six programs for such applications:
