The 2026 China-CEEC Conference on Innovation Cooperation was held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, from September 9 to 10. Xi’an University of Technology’s School of Optoelectronic Science and Intelligent Instrumentation was invited to attend the conference and its exhibition as the only university recommended by the Shaanxi Science and Technology Exchange Center.

The XUT delegation was led by Yan Qing, Vice Dean of the School. Yuan Yun, a young faculty member at the Lidar Remote Sensing Research Center, and doctoral student Hou Chentao also attended the event. The delegation presented XUT’s latest advances in atmospheric lidar remote sensing, cloud precipitation potential detection and integrated meteorological observation.

The China-CEEC Conference on Innovation Cooperation is an important platform for strengthening exchanges and collaboration in science, technology and innovation between China and Central and Eastern European countries. Featuring an exhibition of scientific and technological achievements alongside a series of exchange activities, the conference provided universities, research institutions and technology companies from China and abroad with opportunities to promote their research outcomes, exchange expertise and explore potential partnerships.

The School’s exhibit was presented at Booth 21 in the achievement exhibition area on the second floor. The Lidar Remote Sensing Research Center showcased an innovative all-weather lidar system designed to measure cloud-base temperature, humidity and updraft velocity for assessing the precipitation potential of cloud systems.

The research achievement and its detection technologies attracted considerable interest from delegates representing Central and Eastern European countries. Members of the XUT delegation held in-depth discussions with representatives of overseas universities and institutions on all-weather atmospheric lidar remote sensing, observation of cloud and precipitation processes, meteorological and environmental monitoring, and related technological applications. They also introduced the Center’s research capabilities in lidar system development, remote-sensing retrieval and atmospheric observation.

Professor Zoran Babić, President of the University for Business Studies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, visited the exhibit to learn about the research. He exchanged views with the XUT delegation on applications of lidar technology in atmospheric remote sensing, meteorological observation, and cloud and precipitation research. The two sides exchanged contact information and held preliminary discussions on future research exchanges and cooperation.

Following the conference, the Center will maintain contact with relevant overseas institutions and continue exchanging technical materials. It will further explore opportunities for collaborative research, exchanges among young researchers and the application of related technologies, with the aim of developing the initial discussions at the exhibition into sustained research partnerships.

Participation in the conference provided an international platform for the School to present its scientific and technological achievements. The exhibition and on-site exchanges highlighted its research strengths in optoelectronic remote sensing, atmospheric observation and meteorological applications while creating new opportunities for the Center to connect with universities, research institutions and innovation resources in Central and Eastern European countries.

Building on the conference, the School will continue to draw on XUT’s strengths in optoelectronics and its research platforms. It will expand scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges among young researchers with universities and research institutions in Central and Eastern Europe in such fields as advanced lidar, atmospheric remote sensing, cloud and precipitation physics, and meteorological and environmental monitoring. These efforts will bring more research outcomes to international cooperation platforms and contribute to XUT’s high-level international research collaboration and technology transfer.
