Delegation from Kazakhstan’s Eurasian Innovation University Visits XUT

On May 12, a delegation led by Makkenov Chingis Sherikbayevich, President of Eurasian Innovation University of Kazakhstan, visited Xi’an University of Technology. Vice President Dong Xiaobing met with the guests in the First Reception Room, and the two sides held discussions on inter-university exchange and cooperation.


Dong Xiaobing welcomed the delegation and introduced the University’s history, disciplinary layout, research platforms, and international exchange and cooperation. He noted that Xi’an University of Technology is located in Xi’an, the starting point of the ancient Silk Road, and has long been deeply engaged in fields such as water resources and hydropower engineering as well as equipment manufacturing. In recent years, the University has continuously strengthened exchanges with universities in Central Asian countries. He expressed the hope that the meeting would serve as an opportunity to further enhance mutual understanding between the two universities and, based on the opportunities brought by the China–Central Asia mechanism, explore practical cooperation pathways in areas such as faculty and student exchanges and research collaboration.


President Makkenov Chingis Sherikbayevich expressed gratitude for the University’s reception and introduced the development history, educational characteristics, and international cooperation of Eurasian Innovation University. He stated that the university attaches great importance to exchanges and cooperation with Chinese universities and hopes to expand cooperation in relevant disciplinary fields in the future, promoting the establishment of a long-term and stable friendly cooperative relationship between the two universities.


After the meeting, the two sides held a signing ceremony and jointly signed a memorandum of understanding on inter-university exchange and cooperation, laying a foundation for deepening future collaboration.


During the visit, the two sides also held a cooperation discussion meeting. Yang Yuan, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, introduced XUT’s overall development in education and teaching, disciplinary development, research platforms, and international exchange and cooperation. The School of Civil Engineering and Architecture introduced its program development, talent cultivation, and disciplinary advancement, and held detailed discussions with the Kazakh delegation based on the disciplinary foundations and cooperation needs of both sides.


Eurasian Innovation University is located in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan. Founded in 1991, it is one of Kazakhstan’s important multidisciplinary universities, with a foundation in engineering, management, education, information technology, and other fields, and has established cooperative relationships with universities in several countries.


During the visit, the delegation also toured XUT’s Engineering Training Center, University History Museum, and other campus facilities, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the University’s educational heritage and campus culture.


Representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture attended the above activities.
