Recently, the National Final and Award Ceremony of the 2025 17th UXDA International User Experience Innovation Competition, hosted by UXPA China, concluded at the Dali International Conference Center in Yunnan Province. The team “Sure to Win Team” from the School of Art and Design of Xi’an University of Technology distinguished itself with its project “Yi An Xin – Emergency Medical Service System Design for Community-Based Home Elderly Care.” Competing alongside teams from leading universities including Tsinghua University and Beijing Institute of Technology, the team advanced through three rounds of intense competition and ultimately won the National Second Prize, standing out among participating teams from universities across Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas institutions.

The UXDA International User Experience Innovation Competition is a highly authoritative and influential professional event in the global user experience design field and is widely recognized as a premier platform for emerging talents in user experience innovation. Themed “Who Am I?”, this year’s competition featured a public-interest category titled “Connecting with AI,” along with specialized industry challenges jointly launched by organizations including Alibaba Cloud and Kaihua County, OPPO, and Huawei Cloud. The competition attracted over one thousand teams from more than one hundred universities worldwide. The final round adopted a live evaluation format consisting of an eight-minute project presentation followed by a seven-minute expert Q&A session. A judging panel composed of seven senior industry experts from leading enterprises conducted comprehensive and rigorous evaluations based on multiple key criteria, including originality, visual presentation quality, feasibility of implementation, and completeness of business model design.

Focusing on pressing social and public welfare needs, the “Sure to Win Team” addressed key challenges in community-based home elderly care by identifying service gaps in emergency medical assistance for elderly individuals. The team innovatively developed the “Yi An Xin – Emergency Medical Service System for the Elderly.” The project closely aligned with the competition’s public-interest theme of “Connecting with AI,” utilizing artificial intelligence technologies as the core support mechanism. By optimizing critical processes such as emergency call response, real-time information synchronization, and medical service navigation, the system establishes a safe, efficient, and convenient healthcare support framework for elderly residents living at home. The project’s strong human-centered design philosophy, solid professional design methodology, and practical, implementable solutions received unanimous recognition and high praise from the judging panel.

This achievement not only demonstrates the professional competence, innovative capacity, and collaborative spirit of the participating students, but also highlights the effectiveness of the university’s disciplinary development in design studies, particularly in user experience design, innovative applications in elderly care services, and the cultivation of interdisciplinary design talents. Moving forward, Xi’an University of Technology will take this accomplishment as an opportunity to further advance design innovation, strengthen the integration of industry, academia, research, and application in talent cultivation, and encourage faculty and students to conduct design research addressing real-world societal needs. The university aims to produce more high-quality design outcomes characterized by practicality, innovation, and humanistic value, contributing to the cultivation of high-level design professionals and supporting the high-quality development of related industries.
